Your resident Money Girlie! I’m a thirty-something Finance professional living in the DMV. I created Money Girlie after spending so many years overspending, living large, and not accomplishing any of the money goals I set for myself coming out of college. Despite being successful career wise and achieving way more than I could have every dreamed of by the age of 30 — including making more money than I had ever had to manage in my life. Nevertheless, I was left feeling helpless, hopeless, and living paycheck to paycheck. I decided that I no longer wanted to live this way. I wanted to be in control of my money and not have it control me. I gave myself a reality check and channeled my inner Money Girlie. I got disciplined and I got my finances in order. This was the beginning of my journey to becoming debt-free.
I have always been fascinated about Personal Finance for as long as I can remember. I didn’t grow up wealthy, or with parents that knew how to manage money. So I knew that this was something that I was going to have to teach myself. The more I learned the more passionate I became about financial literacy and being debt free. I realized that I not only loved to learn, but I was passionate about spreading my knowledge with friends and family to help them reach their money goals too.
I have read so many great books, scoured the internet, and have made plenty of mistakes along the way so you don’t have to! There are so many scattered resources online for budgeting and personal finance, and I wanted to create a nonjudgmental space where you can explore all of these topics in one place and feel empowered to take control of your money.
